What it is

Breast augmentation with implants places silicone or saline implants to increase breast size or improve shape. It may also be used to restore volume lost after pregnancy or weight loss, or to improve asymmetry.

Who it’s for

  • Adult women who would like larger or fuller breasts
  • Women who have lost breast volume after pregnancy or weight loss
  • Those with noticeably uneven breast sizes
  • Women in good general health with realistic expectations

How it’s done

  1. Step 01

Surgery is usually done under general anaesthesia.

  2. Step 02

An incision is made, commonly in the fold under the breast.

  3. Step 03

A pocket is created either behind the breast tissue or behind the chest muscle.

  4. Step 04

The chosen implant is placed and its position is checked for symmetry.

  5. Step 05

Incisions are closed in layers and a supportive bra is worn.

Recovery time

Most people return to desk work in about 1 week, with heavy lifting and strenuous exercise usually avoided for around 4–6 weeks. Your surgeon will advise based on your assessment.

Results

The breasts usually look fuller soon after surgery, and the implants settle into a softer, more natural position over a few months. Implants are not lifetime devices and may need replacement in the future.

Results vary from person to person.
